Isobornyl methacrylate (IBOMA) is an acrylate monomer with a rigid cage-like structure. It is a transparent liquid at room temperature and is used to manufacture high-performance coatings, inks, adhesives and resins. It can impart high hardness, weather resistance and chemical resistance to materials, while improving the toughness, water resistance and transparency of materials. It is an important functional monomer.
Physical Properties: Improves polymer hardness, toughness, abrasion resistance, and cohesive strength, while significantly reducing shrinkage and stress.
Optical Properties: Offers high transparency and gloss, suitable for optical-grade materials.

Radiation Curing Systems: Added as an active diluent to UV-cured inks and coatings to reduce system viscosity, improve workability and coating leveling, while also enhancing hardness and scratch resistance.
Synthetic Resins: Used in the synthesis of acrylic resins, polyurethane resins, etc., imparting higher glass transition temperatures (Tg) and hardness to the resins.
Adhesives: Used in the manufacture of high-performance pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSA) and UV-cured adhesives, improving their flexibility, weather resistance, and reducing internal stress.
Specialty Coatings: Applied to automotive coatings, fiber optic coatings, powder coatings, floor coatings, metallic topcoats, etc., improving weather resistance, adhesion, and mechanical properties.
As a diluent: IBOA can be directly added to formulations such as acrylic resins and epoxy acrylic oligomers, usually during mixing. The amount added is adjusted according to the required viscosity and performance.In combination with oligomers: When used in combination with high-viscosity monomers such as epoxy acrylic oligomers, its reactivity allows it to polymerize together with the bulk monomer, forming a highly cross-linked network and improving performance.
Radiation curing process: Combined with photoinitiators (UV curing) or direct electron beam irradiation, it achieves rapid curing in a short time, forming a hard and durable coating film.
Improved coating performance: By introducing its large isoboron structure, it effectively inhibits curing shrinkage, reduces internal stress in the coating, and improves adhesion to various substrates (metal, plastic, wood).
